What you need for this project:
- 2 skeins of Chameleon perlè no. 8 Lavender
- 30 cm piece of Madeira Metallic thread
- 12 x 12 cm 18 count white canvas
- 12 x 12 cm piece of white organza
- Tapestry needle no 26
- Lavender coloured beads
- Loose lavender flower heads
- Frame cut from hard cardboard with outer measurements 12 x 12 cm and inner measurements
8 x 8 cm.
Instructions
- Find the center of your piece of canvas and mark with a soft pencil.
- Place the organza over the canvas and tape to the frame with masking tape. Follow the
pattern provided and stitch 3 sides of the lavender pocket. Undo the masking tape
and place the dried lavender into the pocket.
- Stitch the remaining side.
- Tape the canvas back onto the frame. Follow the pattern and stitch 3 rows of Double
Straight Cross stitch.
- Add the beads provided following the pattern.
- Stitch up the little sachet using a backing fabric of your choice.
- Make a backing that overlaps, as you might want to fill it with lavender scented
stuffing
Tassel
- To make the tassel wrap the 1 skein of perlè thread around a piece of cardboard about
7cm wide. Use a piece of thread about 30 cm long, andtie the thread together at the top of
the card.
- Remove the thread from the card. Wrap a piece of thread tightly around the top end to
form a tassel head and secure the ends.
- Using a piece of thread of about 50cm, bind the tassel head using Buttonhole stitch.
This keeps the tassel head neat.
- Cut through the loops at the bottom of the tassel and shorten if necessary.
- Add a few rows of beads around the wrapped section.
To finish:
Add the tassel to the bottom of your sachet. You may want to add
a charm of your choice. If you want to hang your sachet on a key
or cupboard door, add a loop and cover with Buttonhole stitch.
Happy stitching
